FAQs

Questions, answered plainly

The NDIS comes with a lot of jargon. Here are the questions families and coordinators ask us most, in plain English.

What is the NDIS and am I eligible?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funds supports for Australians under 65 with a permanent and significant disability. Eligibility depends on your age, residency and how your disability affects daily life. If you're not sure where you stand, call us. We'll help you understand the criteria and point you to the right starting place, even if that's not with us.

Is Phil Terry Health Care a registered NDIS provider?

Yes. We're a registered NDIS provider operating across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. Registration means we're audited against the NDIS Practice Standards and bound by the NDIS Code of Conduct.

Do you work with all plan management types?

We support participants who are agency-managed (NDIA), plan-managed and self-managed. When you get in touch, let us know how your plan is managed and we'll take care of the paperwork side.

Can I switch to Phil Terry from another provider?

Yes, you can change providers at any time. It's your plan and your choice. We'll help you plan the transition so there's no gap in your supports, and we can liaise with your current provider if you'd like us to.

Can we meet support workers before services start?

Always. Matching matters to us, so we introduce support workers before services begin, and if the fit isn't right, we'll change it. You'll never be locked into a worker who doesn't suit you.

What's the difference between SIL, STA, MTA and SDA?

SIL (Supported Independent Living) is ongoing help with daily tasks in a shared home, funded under your plan's support budgets. STA (Short Term Accommodation) covers short stays like respite. MTA (Medium Term Accommodation) bridges the gap while you wait for a long-term home. SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) is the physical dwelling itself, purpose-built for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. Many people combine SDA housing with SIL supports.

Can I visit a house before deciding?

Yes, and we encourage it. Seeing the home, meeting potential housemates and getting a feel for the neighbourhood is the only real way to know if it fits. Contact us and we'll arrange a visit at a time that suits you and your family.

I'm a support coordinator. How do I make a referral?

Use our referral form, or call 1800 414 002 if you'd rather talk it through first. We respond to every referral within one business day, and we'll keep you in the loop at every step. If we're not the right fit for your participant, we'll tell you quickly so no one's time is wasted.

What do services cost?

Our services are billed in line with the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, which are the standard rates set by the NDIA. Before any service starts you'll get a clear service agreement showing exactly what's charged and from which part of your plan.

Which areas do you service?

We support participants across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, with supported homes in Western Sydney (Kingswood, Mt Druitt, Mascot) and South-East Queensland (Bahrs Scrub, Caboolture, Park Ridge). For in-home and community supports, contact us to check coverage in your suburb.
